With the escalating food prices and rising rate of inflation, members of the National Union of Municipal Workers came up with a resolution in their meeting yesterday.
Spokesperson Kamal Iyer confirms their resolution include a minimum national wage of $150 per week.
Adding on to this members have also raised concern on the comments by Interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry stating that the Interim Government cannot do much on lowering food prices but are more concentrated on stabilizing the economy.
He adds that union members are more concerned about putting food on the table.
Their resolution will be sent to their parent body, the Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions before forwarding it to the Interim Government.
Meanwhile, the President of Rarawai Milling Cane Transport Association Hari Dayal Sharma said the Interim government should look at the difficulties their members are facing in coping with the increasing prices.
