The Transport Workers Union will today have a meeting to discuss proposals given to them by the Air Pacific on certain cost cutting measures.

General Secretary Kamlesh Kumar said they will meet with Air Pacific tomorrow evening to discuss certain issues however before that the Union executives will have their own meeting this afternoon to finalize their own proposals.

Cost cutting measures already undertaken by the airline includes reduced working hours due to the downgrading of flights, the encouragement of taking annual leave and for cabin crew, leave without pay if they wish.

These measures are undertaken to ensure the airline remains financially stable with minimal worker consequences in light of the global financial crisis.

A scheduled meeting last week with Air Pacific was cancelled as not all the details to be discussed were disclosed to the Union.
