The Ministry of Transport is concerned with the irregular shipping services faced by those living in the outer islands and is therefore carrying out a review of the Shipping Franchise system to help solve the problem.
Spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete said the review will hopefully solve the problem but what has to be understood is that they already have a timetable in place which should have ships visiting the islands once a month, so the other factor left is the availability of the ship itself.
Some people in Lau and Gau have complained of irregular shipping services which have resulted in shortages of food supplies.
