A 25 year old unemployed man of Valelevu was sentenced to six years imprisonment by Nasinu Magistrate Salesi Temo who was charged with robbery with violence and home invasion.

Epeli Qaraniqio pleaded guilty to robbing a student of Newtown on the 17th of last month at her home when the family were asleep.

Qaraniqio with others entered the home and stole a gold chain, 3 mobile phones, laptop, school bag, jewellery and cash cheques valued at $5925. The owner of the house went fishing while the family was sleeping but one of the occupants raised the alarm when she saw the 5 men moving inside their house.

Magistrate Temo told the accused the 6 years prison sentence should teach him a lesson and to others who are similar offenders to stop going around breaking into homes when people are asleep.
