Unemployed man appears in court
Tevita Vucoka is alleged to have indecently assaulted a 19-year-old woman at their family home in Samabula last week.
The court heard that the young woman and others are tenants of Vucoka and have not paid the rent for some time.
The court heard that Vucoka came from the island and went to the house to enquire about the rent when the alleged incident took place.
The accused was granted bail today and his mother will act as surety.
The case will be recalled on the 13th May.
Meanwhile a chef of a Restaurant in Suva pleaded guilty to a charge of theft in court today.
39 year old mother Akata Bui is alleged to have stolen a wallet which contained more than $500 from a complainant at MHCC in Suva.
The court heard on the 10th of last month, the complainant and her family were shopping, and as they filled up their trolley they noticed that when they reached the cashier counter, the wallet was missing.
However the accused was identified through the camera at MHCC and was arrested and questioned.
In court today, Bui asked the court to pay back the stolen money and her first payment of $100 is to be paid on the 14th of May.
