As the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group meets on Friday to decide on Fiji's membership in the Commonwealth, the Prime Minister is calling on the international community to understand Fiji's situation.
In an interview with the SBS, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said people in the international community may be thinking that war tanks are being driven around in Fiji.
He calls for greater understanding and why it is necessary to make the constitutional and electoral changes.
Bainimarama also said he wants changes and they will occur.
However he said he is not running the country in military style.
The Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group which addresses serious or persistent violations of the Commonwealth's fundamental political values will meet in London on Friday.
