The Fiji Under 23 soccer team is just two steps away from creating history and qualifying for the London Olympics.

Fiji has qualified for the semifinals of the OFC Olympic qualifiers after registering a 2-0 win over Solomons and a 7-1 win over American Samoa yesterday.

To qualify for the Olympics in June, Fiji now needs to win the semifinals and final.

Fiji is highly likely to play Papua New Guinea or New Zealand in the semifinals.

Tomorrow’s pool match against Vanuatu will be crucial for Fiji as a win will prevent Fiji from playing New Zealand in the semifinals.

Speaking from New Zealand, national soccer team director Tarunesh Reddy said the platform has been laid and players now need to lift their performance to win the qualifiers.
