The Fiji Under 18 rugby side still needs around $80,000 to cover their Australian tour expenses with just a day left before they leave our shores.

This was revealed this afternoon by the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby President, Napolioni Silatolu.

Silatolu said the FRU did not provide any financial assistance but they looked after the technical aspects of their preparations.

Silatolu added they are asking for assistance and they believe everything will work out before they leave.

Silatolu also said their air fares are covered but they are still worried about the accommodation, meals and transportation around Australia.

Meanwhile, Fiji Sports Commission Chairman Peter Mazey handed a $50,000 cheque to Silatolu this afternoon to help them with the tour.

Mazey said they are investing in the youngsters as Fiji is aiming to claim Olympic gold in rugby sevens in 2016.

The national Under 18 side will leave for Australia on Thursday.
