Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara is the new chairman of the Lau Provincial Council while the Deputy chairman is Ratu Josefa Basulu.
The two were appointed in the last hour.
Meanwhile, some people from the Lau province were unhappy that they were stopped from attending the Lau provincial council meeting this morning at the Nasova police barracks.
Majority of people who came from the island told Fijivillage that they were not informed that passes would be provided to attend the meeting.
Police Officers present at the main gate only allowed tikina representatives through to the meeting, but the decision was later overturned by Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba after discussions.
