A total of 15 students who are first years at the University of the South Pacific (USP) have received their scholarships from Vodafone.
The 15 students, ranging from areas in Ba, Labasa and Suva were awarded the scholarship as one of the criteria was that their parents earn less than $20 000 a year and were chosen the Vodafone Scholarship Committee to study computer engineering at the University.
Pro Vice Chancellor Adi Eci Nabalarua addressing the students once again reminded them of the struggles their parents went through to see them get thus far.
One of the awardees 18-year-old Nitika Prasad, a former Labasa College student said the Award was a timely one as she is now able to pursue her dreams.
The students were awarded a three year scholarship in computer science where their tuition and book fees are covered under the scheme.
Also included in the scholarship is a 10 week study attachment with Vodafone where they will gain work experience before graduating.
