Fiji's largest Regional learning Institute, the University of the South Pacific has received a good rating from the Australian Quality Audit Agency.

Vice Chancellor Doctor Rajesh Chandra said that as part of its regular reviews, the Australian Quality Audit Agency visited the University to provide an appraisal of USP's progress on the implementation of the recommendations and affirmations made in the 2008 Audit Report.

Chandra added that the Audit team was impressed by the changes at USP since 2008, the improvement in staff morale, the sense of teamwork exhibited by the senior management team, the growth in postgraduate numbers, the establishment of a research culture, the commitment to quality enhancement, and the improvement in the financial situation.

He stressed that while more needed to be done in preparation for the 2013 Audit, however all efforts are targeted towards raising the quality of programs and services.

One of the changes that would be met before 2013 according to Chandra was ensuring that USP standards are the same as those of universities in Australia and New Zealand and internationally.
