The University of the South Pacific will await the formal approval from the Finance Ministry on the University’s triennial submission for 2010-2012.

According to Vice Chancellor Rajesh Chandra in preparing the submission, the University was very mindful of the current financial challenges facing member countries.

However, Chandra has revealed that for the first time, USP has asked for a reduction rather than an increase in the overall government contributions.

At the graduation ceremony on Friday, Chandra said the University has benefited from strong and decisive leadership and has re-established a sense of credibility and accountability.

He added the finances at USP have improved significantly.
