Plans are in the pipeline to reduce the number of staff and faculties at the University of the South Pacific next year.
Vice Chancellor Professor Rajesh Chandra said the reduction in the number of faculties from four to three, together with a reduction in staff members will help save half a million dollars.
He added the University's benchmark has to be set aligned with those of the universities in Australia and New Zealand, and to achieve this, Professor Chandra said, USP will have to allocate funds towards capital and equipment and will have to generate surplus every year.
