Senior Management and the Vice Chancellor of the University of the South Pacific have had their salaries reduced to help stabilize the University's finances.
Professor Rajesh Chandra at a morning tea with the media, revealed a 40% reduction in senior management's salaries and a more than 50% reduction in his salary as compared to the last Vice Chancellor.
Chandra had earlier said to senior management that the most immediate challenge for the University is to stabilize finances and find significant savings, through various efficiency and productivity measures.
Chandra this week starts in his new position as Vice Chancellor of USP, after taking over from Acting Vice Chancellor, Esther Williams who in took over from Anthony Tarr.
