As the world remembers the events ten years ago where the Twin Towers and the Pentagon were bombed, the United States rugby team will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks before taking on Ireland.

The entire US squad will attend a morning church service, both sides will wear black armbands and the crowd will be asked to observe a period of silence to remember the attacks on New York and Washington in which nearly 3,000 people died.

US prop Mike MacDonald said people can say a lot of things now, but in the heat of the moment the emotion is going to hit, adding it will be a special game for the players as it is the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and the first game of the World Cup for them.

Meanwhile, in results from last night, England escaped with a 13-9 victory over Argentina, Scotland beat Romania 34-24, France beat Japan 47-21.
 
Looking at games today, at 3.30pm Australia will meet Italy, at 6pm Ireland faces USA and 8.30pm South Africa takes on Wales.
