The United States government will be providing immediate assistance of $50,000 for those affected by flooding in Fiji.

This has been confirmed by US Ambassador Steve McGann who said they will assess a further appropriate response adding these funds will go to an appropriate non-governmental organization.

He said they will continue to work with the Interim Government regarding any future response.

Help for those affected by severe flooding has come from business houses, banks and embassies as most people have suffered damage to their homes and lost their belongings while some have also lost loved ones.
