The US Government said they will not be involved in the Draft People's Charter Process as they do not believe that elections should be tied to the People's Charter Process.

However, the US Government goes on to say that they are ready to support Fiji's return to a democratically elected government however it first needs to see action by the Interim Government to meet its commitment to the Pacific Island Forum to hold elections by March 2009.

Meanwhile, Australian High Commissioner to Fiji, James Batley confirmed to Fijivillage news that no assistance will be forthcoming from the Australian Government with regards to the consultations on the Draft People's Charter.
