The United States Department of State head Glyn Davis has revealed that they are disappointed that the interim government is stepping back from their earlier commitment to hold elections in early March 2009.
Davis said the US government would like to see Fiji return to democracy as soon as possible.
However, he added that the stand of the Pacific Island Forum is in addressing Fiji at the moment is a good stance.
Meanwhile, Director General of the European Commission Roger Moore said that under the Cotonou Agreement, they have made a commitment to Fiji and they will stick to it adding it is not the role of the commission to demand that elections be held at a certain time.
