The team of senior UN officials who are in the country to carry out assessment on Fiji's efforts in combating corruption and white collar crime met with the Attorney General this morning.

At a press conference this afternoon, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said that the meeting was in regards to the compliance with the UN Convention Against Corruption and they will assess Fiji's progress in fighting corruption.

The five member delegation is here to assess the implementation of the 71 articles of the Convention under the pillars of criminalization, prevention, international cooperation, asset recovery and implementation mechanisms.

Their report is also expected to identify technical assistance that the Fiji government can seek through the United Nations.
