These are the words of UN Public Information Officer, Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Anayansi Lopez regarding 280 Fiji UN peacekeepers in 5 countries across the world today.

Lopez said there is no way to predict for how long a Mission will continue adding dates and contributions varies daily.

Meanwhile, PACNEWS reports Defence Minister, Ratu Epeli Ganilau said he is not aware of fresh attempts by Australia to have Fiji moved out of international peacekeeping operations with the UN.

PACNEWS said The Australian newspaper said Canberra has asked the UN to order a "progressive replacement of Fijian troops" in peacekeeping operations.

The move follows similar efforts by the Australian and New Zealand governments in recent months.
