UN Team Meets SDL
SDL leader and former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase said the meeting was very useful with discussions around the convening of the Forum.
Qarase also confirmed the issue for the elections was not discussed in the meeting.
SDL members included Qarase, Ted Young, Samisoni Tikoinasau and Solomoni Naivalu.
The United Nations and Commonwealth Joint Technical Team is holding a round of meetings with political parties, the interim government and stakeholders in preparation for the proposed President’s Political Dialogue Forum.
The UN office has confirmed that invitations to meetings with the group have been sent out to all registered political parties.
They will also meet Labour leader Mahendra Chaudhry tomorrow while Former Opposition Leader Mick Beddoes confirmed he has received an invitation for a meet on Thursday.
The UN and Commonwealth team is also expected to meet with Interim Prime Minister Commodore Bainimarama and Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum later in the week.
