The United Nations (UN) and the Commonwealth office in London have agreed to assist Fiji through a multilateral supported process, to carry dialogue forward particularly amongst political leaders.

President Ratu Josefa Iloilo today confirmed that he has received responses from the Secretary Generals of the UN and Commonwealth, and is extremely pleased by the support, after he wrote to them requesting assistance.

He said he appreciated that the Commonwealth and the UN have indicated their support to assist the country in its hour of need.

The office of the President indicates that its now anticipated that an initial mission, possibly led by Sir Paul Reeves, will visit Fiji by the end of June 2008.
