Three teams have been sent out to villages and rural settlements in the Northern Division to assist health officials in raising awareness on typhoid fever.
Speaking to Fijivillage, Assistant Director for Community Health, Dr Pablo Romakin said that the ministry has noted that these areas are prone to the fever.
He added that the water supply in these rural areas is a huge contributor to the spread of typhoid fever, therefore the need for these community awareness programmes.
Dr Romakin also said that reports over the past few months have highlighted that though statistics over the past three months has shown that typhoid has indeed decreased, people should still be cautious.
