Tylenol Extra Strength Caplets recall to be over by Friday
McNeil Healthcare Spokesperson Nicholas Campbell confirmed to Fijivillage news the recall process started in Fiji on Friday and they estimate that all affected stock will be recalled from all outlying stores and retail outlets.
Campbell also confirmed that McNeil is offering two options for consumers who have purchased products affected by this recall, a refund for the average retail price of the product from their point of purchase or return the affected product for a full refund with the local distributors, HealthCare Products International.
McNeil Consumer Healthcare in the US has confirmed that out of the 21 lots of over the counter medicines it has recalled, only one is distributed in Fiji.
Campbell confirmed that only the Tylenol Extra Strength Caplet are sold in Fiji and they are currently in the process of contacting all distributors and retail outlets in Fiji to assist them to remove all impacted products.
This is a follow-up to a product recall that they originally announced on January 15, 2010, which was initiated following consumer complaints of a musty or moldy odor, which has been linked to the presence of trace amounts of a chemical from the pallets used to store and ship the products.
