Two people were swept away by strong currents in Ra and Sigatoka while one was killed by a falling tree.

Assistant Police Spokesperson Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri has confirmed that a 23 year old villager is believed to have drowned while returning from his farm yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened in Nasikawa village Keiyasi where the man was returning with four others when he was washed away by strong currents while the others managed to swim to safety. Police are yet locate his body.

In another incident, a 19 year old youth of Ra was swept away by strong currents yesterday afternoon while he was trying to cross the Ra River which was flooded.

His body is yet to be located.

Meanwhile, a Class eight student from Drala village in Nadarivatu died instantly when a tree fell on him last night.

He was trying to move to somewhere safe when a huge tree fell on him and he died instantly.
