Two doctors from Lautoka Hospital have been suspended following preliminary investigations into suggestions of negligence.

Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, Dr Eloni Tora said the suspensions are a result of a death of a patient in April following surgery at the Lautoka hospital.

In a statement, Dr Tora has expressed his sincere condolence to the family of the deceased and has assured them that further investigations will be carried out.

Dr Tora said they hope to conclude the investigation within the next two weeks.

He has also assured the public that patient safety is paramount at all hospitals and the Ministry is fully committed to the health and well being of those entrusted to its care.
