Police have arrested and charged two villagers of Naimasimasi in Tailevu for allegedly assaulting fellow villagers during the installation of a chief on Thursday.
Divisional Crime Officer Eastern, ASP Ramesh Chand has confirmed tension is high in the village following the incident and police are closely monitoring the situation.
According to the Police, the brawl started after some men objected to the intallation of Ratu Vereti Vakatawaca as a chief on Thursday afternoon.
This led to a brawl in which a number of people were assaulted.
A nineteen year old boy, who was part of the installation party was assaulted and received injuries.
