Two provinces out of the 14 provinces in Fiji receive the highest lease money annually.

The Ba Province tops the list with 12 million, 95 thousand and 407 dollars and the province of Nadroga/ Navosa with 5 million dollars received by 666 landowning units, followed by the province of Macuata with 471 landowning units who receive more than 4 million 876 thousand and 563 dollars.

Native Land Trust board officer Semisi Baro said the total lease distributed from 2002 to 2005 decreased but increased again in 2006.

He said th variation in amounts distributed, is a reflection of various factors like ALTA expiry, rental arrears, rent re-assessments and other factors.

He said in total, the NLTB can see that lease monies have increased over the years and one of NLTB mission's is to encourage investment and savings for landowners.
