A villager of Vunidawa with another man have been arrested and charged for allegedly raping his 12-year-old step daughter.
Police confirmed the incident took place when the Class 5 student went to visit her mother who is in de-facto relationship with the man.
According to Divisional Crime Officer ASP Ramesh Chand, the mother left the daughter with the step father and went to the market. It is alleged the man then raped the girl after whom he called another man who then also raped her.
The girl reported the matter to her mother who then took it the matter to police.
The two have been charged and will appear in court soon.
