Two men have been questioned for allegedly raping two 1-year-old girls in two separate incidents.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirms that the first incident occurred in Naitasiri while the second happened in Taveuni.

A 60-year-old farmer will be produced in the Nausori Magistrates Court today charged with the alleged rape of his 1-year-old granddaughter.

The alleged incident occurred in a settlement in Naitasiri late last month and the matter came to light when the child had complained to her mother.

The accused is in custody and will be produced today.

In another incident a 22-year-old farmer is in custody for allegedly raping a 1-year-old girl in a settlement in Taveuni.

The two are staying together and the matter came to light when the child’s mother saw the victim lying motionless in pain yesterday morning.

The suspect will be taken to the Labasa Police Station where he will be questioned as investigations continue.
