Police have managed to establish that a total of 12 men were involved in the brutal rape of a Class 8 student in Bua last week.

Assistant Spokesperson, Atunaisa Sokomuri has confirmed upon further investigations it was revealed that 12 men were allegedly involved in the rape of the 12 year old girl.

Seven people are in police custody at Seaqaqa Police station while the other five according to Sokomuri will be arrested soon.

The victim went to spend Christmas at a relative’s house in Bua when the alleged incident took place.

It is believed all the suspects were under the influence of liquor when the incident took place.

Meanwhile the Soqosoqo Vakamarama is calling on the authorities to hand down the heaviest penalty possible to the 12 men who allegedly raped the 12 year old girl in Dreketi last week.

General Secretary, Adi Finau Tabakaucoro has strongly highlighted their concern and branded the actions by the men as inhumane.
