The Dubai 7s Man of the final, Jerry Tuwai has been dropped from the Vodafone Fiji Sevens team 12-men squad for the Cape Town 7s.

Jerry Tuwai had fish poisoning before the final of the Dubai 7s last weekend and is still recovering.

Kitione Taliga is the other player that has not been named in the 12-men squad.

Nemani Nagusa and Alivereti Veitokani are the two replacements.

Veitokani is replacing Jerry Tuwai on his tournament debut.

Fiji’s offload king, Pio Tuwai and Viliame Mata are both in the team after nursing some injuries throughout the week.

Coach Ben Ryan says he plans to rotate his squad to ensure they remain fresh and fit throughout the tournament.

He says this will be an advantage for Fiji as they have a lot of players who also play well in other positions.

Ryan adds that it is important that the team continues to focus on its key strengths.

Ryan has tipped South Africa as the favourites to win the Cape Town Sevens.

The Cape Town 7s will kick off at 9.15pm.

Fiji plays Scotland at 9.59pm today, they play Russia at 1.20am tomorrow and the final pool match against Argentina will be at 5.03am tomorrow.

The Cup quarter finals will start at 11.04pm tomorrow, the Cup semis start at 3.34am Monday while the Cup final will kick off at 6.30am Monday.
