Earth Hour does not mean total darkness.
That is the stand of Earth Hour organizers WWF of Fiji.
Representative Roshni Mala said Earth Hour is about turning off all non-essential lights and electrical appliances, for one hour from 8:30pm to 9:30pm this Saturday.
She said the main reason for carrying out such activities is to create awareness on how human activity contributes to climate change.
Mala adds with Fiji being a rugby crazy nation, WWF has decided to hold a function at Ratu Sukuna Park where families can watch the Hong Kong 7s and at the same time learn more about climate change.
Fiji joins billions worldwide supporting the campaign with 812 icons and land marks like the Big Ben in London, the Sydeny Opera House all expected to turn off their lights for one hour this Saturday.
