Lote Tuqiri will make his much anticipated return to the NRL for the Wests Tigers in its season opening clash against Manly at the Sydney Football Stadium on March 15.

The Monday night game at the former home of rugby league will be Tuqiri=s first NRL match since departing the Brisbane Broncos following the 2002 season.

Terms for an early release from English Rugby club Leicester Tigers were agreed upon overnight, paving the way for the dual international to return to Australia's premier rugby league competition earlier than expected.

Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys says it is terrific news and a real bonus for them on the eve of the 2010 season adding I greatly appreciate Leicester's co operation in making it possible.

Head coach Tim Sheens was delighted with the news, that Lote's arrival will give the team a real lift as they prepare for Manly.

He says they will monitor his condition but as long as he comes through the weekend's game injury free and recovers well from his flight, he expects Tuqiri would be involved in the round one match.

Tuqiri last month signed a three-year deal with the Wests Tigers.

He debuted in the NRL with the Broncos in 1999, having also represented Fiji, Australia and Queensland.
