Fiji born Wallaby wing Lote Tuqiri congratulated the FMF Flying Fijians after they defeated Wales 38-34 to reach the last eight of the World Cup.

Team captain Mosese Rauluni said he received a phone call of congratulations from Tuqiri. According to Rauluni, Tuqiri said the wallabies had been watching the game on the team bus returning from their match with Canada and Fiji scored the last try they all thumped the air with excitement.

Meanwhile Gareth Jenkins has been sacked as Wales head coach after his side crashed out of the World Cup.

Jenkins was told of the Welsh Rugby Union's decision by chief executive Roger Lewis today.

Defeat by FMF Flying Fijians yesterday ended Wales World Cup campaign at the pool stage, but Jenkins had vowed not to resign.

He had a contract until the end of 2008 Six Nations, but the WRU has decided his position had become untenable.
