Tuition Grants Processed By Ministry
Interim Minister Filipe Bole said they have processed tuition grants for 43 schools whereby 28 are primary and 15 are secondary schools.
He added this should enable school managements to purchase much needed teaching and learning resources.
Bole also said while they understand that parents are trying to rebuild their homes, he requests that parents allow their children to go to school adding keeping them at home will not help at all as they will not be able to receive help offered by the Ministry.
Meanwhile, an estimated 4,000 children in the worst flood affected areas in the Western and Northern Divisions need urgent assistance.
Save the Children Fiji Chief Executive Chandar Shekhar confirmed that their teams are still carrying out thorough assessments in the Nadi area to obtain confirmed figures on the number of children needing assistance in terms of fees, bus fares and lunch.
The appeal to the Get The Children Back To School Appeal led by the Communications Fiji Limited has raised over $52,000 since it started.
