Police confirmed that a senior officer at the PM's Office and military officer, Captain Seremaia Tuiteci has been charged with one count of assault and will be appearing in court this afternoon.
Assistant Police Sokesperson Corporal Josaia Weicavu confirmed charges were laid against him earlier this afternoon after he was taken to the Central Police station for questioning this morning.
Coporal Weicavu confirms Captain Tuiteci was questioned in relation to allegations of drunk driving and assaulting a police officer.
Tuiteci allegedly hit a taxi at Macgregor Road on Friday night.
He was allegedly under the influence of liquor and failed to stop when Police tried to stop him. Police later went to a Suva apartment to arrest him when the civil servant is alleged to have assaulted a Police Officer.
