Tuisolia’s lawyer files for stay on proceedings
Tuisolia's lawyer, Davenesh Sharma filed the application this morning before High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar.
Sharma highlighted in the court this afternoon that FICAC has served some new disclosures on Monday and yesterday which had new information as well as listings of new witnesses.
He added the trial proper was to start today but taking into consideration the new information that has came in late, they were left with no choice but to make an application for a stay.
FICAC lawyers were given time till this afternoon to make a reply on the application by Sharma.
However, when the proceedings started this afternoon, FICAC lawyer, Aca Rayawa admitted they were not given sufficient time to make a reply.
Justice Daniel Goundar has given FICAC lawyers time till mid day Friday to file their written submissions on the Defence's application to stay the proceedings.
The hearing on the stay application will be heard on Tuesday next week.
Tuisolia is facing 8 counts of falsification of documents and fraudulent conversion.
