Tuisolia granted permission to travel
This was decided after Tuisolia's lawyer, Devinesh Sharma raised 4 discoveries in Court, questioning the credibility of the 44 charges brought against his client, adding that only 6 were substantial.
The matter was brought before High Court Judge, Justice Daniel Goundar who was informed that, firstly Airports Fiji Limited is a registered limited company and therefore Tuisolia did not qualify as a civil servant, adding that his client had to resign from his post as a civil servant in the Prime Minister's office when he had to take up the post of CEO of AFL.
Secondly, Sharma informed that Court that on the charges of abuse of office by a civil servant where Tuisolia is alleged to have used a company credit card for personal use, Sharma says that FICAC had only based their investigations on a generic statement from AFL Board General Secretary, Christopher Singh, without referring to any financial statements or even an Auditor’s report.
FICAC lawyer Aca Rayawa confirmed that the charges will be reduced to 6 counts, as he was handed the case eight weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Tuisolia has today been granted permission to travel out of the country for 12 days on a business trip, on the condition that his wife Imrana Jalal provide assurity of $10,000 and remain in the country for the duration Tuisolia is abroad.
