Ro Filipe Tuisawau has been appointed the Fiji Rugby Union's new President in the FRU Annual General Meeting held at Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka today.

Three nominees were brought up for the President's post. Ro Filipe Tuisawau was nominated by Nadi, Suva Lord Mayor Ratu Peni Volavola was nominated by Suva while former Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka was nominated by Cakaudrove.

After elections this afternoon, Ro Filipe Tuisawau was appointed FRU President taking over from Ratu Sakiusa Tuisolia, who tended his resignation after he was charged by FICAC in relations to allegations of Corruption.

Dr Eddy McCaig has been elected as a member of the FRU Board of Trustees after, Radike Qereqeretabua tendered his resignation. The FRU Board of Trustees consists of Sir Morti Tikaram, Tom Vuetilovoni, Major General Sitiveni Rabuka and Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.
