The people of Tavua are mourning the death of the Tui Tavua Ratu Jale Ratu who passed away after a short illness on Saturday afternoon.
This was confirmed by the Mata ni Tikina of Tavua Apisalome Uluisova after the Vanua met yesterday morning.
Uluisova said the 67 year old late Paramount chief of Tavua held the position for 2 years after his elder brother Ratu Totivi Kama Bokini passed away in 2011.
He is survived by his wife Filomena Ratu and his four children who are all married.
Uluisova said protocol is observed as messages of the Tui Tavua’s death has been relayed to the close chiefly ties.
He will be laid to rest on the 14th of this month at the chiefly burial ground in Tavua.
