The Paramount Chief of Macuata Ratu Aisea Katonivere has been laid to rest in the Sautabu at Naduri Village in the last hour.
The burial of the Chief of Caumatalevu is the traditional responsibility carried out by the Taukei Nawavesi of Sasa Village.
According to our reporter at the site Aliki Bia close to a thousand people attended the funeral today amongst them the Prime Minister and President and also many from the 105 villages that make up the Province of Macuata and those from other parts of the Country.
Meanwhile the clan of Taukei Namara will have a meeting later today to discuss the installation of the next Tui Macuata.
