Turaga na Tui Ba, Ratu Sairusi Nagagavoka is calling on Fijian landowners to support the interim government's Committee on Better Utilization of Land as this will bring the greatest benefit they can get from their land.

The Tui Ba said one has to look at what is happening to the Sugar industry where the sugar cane land lease is expiring and the land becoming idle because landowners do not want to continue farming as they are used to receiving their money through the leases.

Ratu Nagagavoka also adds the interim government's plans to develop their land will result in majority of them receiving a better income compared to what they used to get from past governments.

Tui Ba, believes the problem many landowners are facing now is that politicians are trying to instill fear in them by telling them the Indians are trying to take their land away.

He added no one can take the land away from the landowners as it is well protected under the NLTB and the government is just trying to look at ways land-owners can get maximum benefit from it.
