Methodist Church of Fiji president Reverend Ame Tugawe is expected to explain his position to the Church Standing Committee in a meeting, in light of Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama earlier stating that he would offer his support to Tugawe if the political agenda was taken out of the church therefore enabling the conference to go ahead in 2010.

General secretary Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu said in a church sermon last night that the Standing Committee meeting did not take place earlier as the president had been in Tonga and now that he has returned they can move ahead with a meet.

Waqairatu said the meeting, to be held tomorrow, will also discuss the cancellation of the annual Methodist Conference which was expected to take place next month in Rewa adding they will also discuss the five year plan for the church and where it is heading.
