Fiji does not have censors that normally detect a tsunami in the middle of the ocean.
Those were the words of Principal Disaster Management Officer Pajiliai Dobui who said that these warning systems are very expensive and they have to depend on Hawaii for any warnings.
Dobui also said that Fiji cannot afford these equipments without funding and most of the Pacific Island countries depend on Hawaii for warnings.
He added that they will wait for funding before purchasing the equipment.
