Government has made recommendations to the Department of Environment to ensure that public is made aware of the need to conserve energy by 10 percent.

This follows the endorsement by Cabinet of a number of recommendations made by the Food and Energy Taskforce which will see 18 Departments participating in the program.

This will see the appointment of Energy Managers who will be tasked with seeing that all staff in their respective Ministries and Departments practices energy conservation and efficiency measures.

Director of Energy, Iferemi Dau said energy is used by everyone and affects our homes, schools and even our freedom of movement and it is also a commodity that we cannot live without.

Dau added that also part of the program will see workshops to relate Energy Conservation and Efficiency training to all the Energy Managers of other respective Government ministries.
