The Vunivalu of Serua, Ratu Aseri Latianara believes the interim government should try to have an election as soon as possible to allow for overseas assistance to our shores.

Ratu Latianara said we should forget the past and look forward on what we can do for our future generations as the chiefs decisions will be important for them.

He called on the chiefs to express their views on what they think will be the best election system to be used for the next general election as the interim government has made it clear they want an election not to be based on race.

The Serua high chiefs said whatever system will be used it is important to try to hold election within the next 6 months.

Yesterday, Commodore Bainimarama when addressing the chiefs said election will only be held after the recommendations in the Peoples Charter has been achieved following which the Election Office will be informed and it will take 12 to 15 months before any election will take place.

The Bose ni Turaga continues this afternoon at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks.
