Our main priority is to get water to rural areas whose water sources have dried up.
Commissioner Western Joeli Cawaki said they are working closely with Water Authority to cart waters to these areas as the effect of the dry spell continues around the country.
Cawaki added this also includes areas within the Water Authority metered areas that may face disruptions.
Meanwhile trucks have started carting water while the Water Authority of Fiji has started placing water tanks in the Western and northern divisions.
Water Authority said that trucks have started carting water to schools and health centres in Bua, Wainikoro and Dogotuki while an additional truck will be included in the fleet in Labasa from today.
Water Authority said that 10 water tanks, 3 water pumps and 5 hoses were delivered to Labasa to help the affected areas while it is still waiting for the arrival of a barge to cart water to Kia, Yacata, Rabi and Cikobia.
Meanwhile, 5 trucks have been sent to Rakiraki to assist areas which do not have tap water while a truck has started carting water to non metered area of Tavua with 5 water tanks placed there.
Four tanks have been placed around the most affected areas in Ba and nine in Rakiraki while trucks are now carting water to schools and health centres and other settlements in the area.
