Trucks cart water to drought stricken areas
Water Authority said that trucks have started carting water to schools and health centres in Bua, Wainikoro and Dogotuki from this morning while an additional truck will be included in the fleet in Labasa from today.
Water Authority says that 10 water tanks, 3 water pumps and 5 hoses were delivered to Labasa this morning to help the affected areas while it is still waiting for the arrival of a barge to cart water to Kia, Yacata, Rabi and Cikobia.
Meanwhile, 5 trucks have been sent to Rakiraki to assist areas which do not have tap water while a truck has started carting water to non metered area of Tavua with 5 water tanks placed there.
Four tanks have been placed around the most affected areas in Ba and 9 in Rakiraki while trucks are now carting water to schools and health centres and other settlements in the area.
