The active trough of low pressure which lies over Vanua Levu has started to take its toll with water levels rising in a number of areas.
DISMAC Operations Centers Aisea Quminakelo said a number of families are taking shelter at the Labasa Civic center after flood waters entered their homes earlier this morning.
Quminakelo also confirms that water levels at the Korovou Bridge are rising rapidly and evacuation centers in the area have been activated.
He said due to flooding in Lautoka and Tavua, evacuation centers remain operational and people are advised to move to these locations if the need arises.
